2017 HG: IMA: Virtual Worlds Fair, OSCC Venues, exhibit locator

Virtual Worlds Fair, OSCC Venues, exhibit locator
The Virtual Worlds Fair is off to a start with 5 venues of exhibits built for OSCC, but remaining till the next OSCC.  Here I put the layout and main exhibits on the web to get wider availability. And to try out a way to increase the public visibility of exhibits in the VWFair.

First issue: finding the exhibits

  • With lots of exhibits, the venues are too big to search for a specific exhibit.
  • Fine for OSCC traffic where you look around to see what is there.
  • But not good for people coming with specific interests.
  • Trial locator: Lists by quadrant.
  • Quadrants are small enough to find by looking around.

Sim lists by quadrant

  • Two by two tables are needed to give an intuitive layout.
  • The cells correspond to world map quadrants.
  • To search on page in Chrome:  Ctrl F
  • That opens a search bar: Type in your search term.
  • Each instance will be highlighted for you.

Contents here

  • One or two prominent items in each quadrant
  • Exhibits with names, especially with a web link
  • Or with a name that I can find on the web.

Suggestions for upcoming venues

  • If you are promoting something, develop your digital savvy.
  • Include a web link to your page and landmarks to your Hypergrid place.
  • Landmarks stay with people, so they can use them later.
  • On your web page, include the HG address to your place.
  • Never depend on textures to offer HG addresses.  They don't copy/paste.
  • Use the general form of HG addresses.   On Kitely, that is in your web page.
  • Do not offer HG addresses that start with http//.
  • That looks like a web address, but does not work in a browser.
  • New people will try it in the browser and conclude it does not  work.
