2017 IMA: HG Chamber of Commerce: How about a Virtual Worlds Fair?

HG Chamber of Commerce:  
How about a Virtual Worlds Fair?
A suggested plan for promoting virtual worlds on the Hypergrid.  A persistent Worlds Fair Grounds with links to places of interest all over the Hypergrid.  Free space is available.  Can we get a group together to do this?

  • A real world's fair in virtual worlds.
  • The fair grounds are a hub to HG places and events everywhere.
  • Displays promote the places and events and walkin TPs give prompt access.
  • Infinite Metaverse Alliance  can provide space and promotion.
  • Hypergrid Chamber of Commerce may be interested in managing it.
  • A persistent space with some persistent and some temporary exhibits
  • Following the pattern of some state fairs in the old world.
  • Seasonal, not annual.  Events and promotion several times a year.  
  • The fair grounds could be the Go-To place for what's happening on the Hypergrid.
  • The Virtual World’s Fair is where VR hype meets theme parks
  • (We can't use that term without checking trademarks and copyrights.) 
  • Worlds Fair of the Metaverse?
  • Can we get a group together to do this?

My suggested operating plans

  • Will have both nonprofit and commercial exhibitors.
  • Commercial exhibitors will pay a small fee to cover costs for paid entertainment.
  • Paid entertainment will be provided and promoted to draw crowds.
  • Community events would be welcome and without land costs.  
  • Information about HG events would be displayed with walkin TPs to the place.
  • Walk-in TPs to other places (and other grids)  will be encouraged.
  • The other destinations may be listed as VWF annex areas.
  •  If they put Walkin TPs back to the main fair near the arrival point for incoming TPs.
  • IMA will recommend and make available Walkin TP scripts that are reliable.
  • Art work would be sought and displayed for months or indefinitely.
  • A freebie area would be available with walkin TPs to other free places.  
  • The Fair would extend this:  Plan for the HG eventorator
  • IMA can probably provide space.

    The Hypergrid WIP Show

    • The Hypergrid WIP is a one hour "show & tell" of works in progress. 
    • Everyone is invited.  Building, scripting, entertainment-- whatever you are working on.
    • Selby may capture video of presentations in voice, for posting on YouTube.
    • The WIP show normally meets on 2 Sundays a month at 12 pm California time.
    • The show meets at the Pandora location on the second Sunday 
    • But will not meet in the summer.
    • And at Cookie II on the fourth Sunday.  
    • To keep up with the WIP meetings, join the Kitely group, Work in progress.
    • We can go to your place if there is time.
