• Fortunately, you probably  have one in your inventory if your grid is HG connected.
• If your grid is not HG connected, you don't need one.  You aren't going anywhere.
• Just search your inventory for Suitcase. The title will probably be My Suitcase.
• A few grids may not provide a suitcase.  Ask your grid manager about that.
• I think they got that My bit from Microsoft.  Not needed.  
• You guessed it was yours when you found it in your inventory.

• People in virtual worlds like to help new people learn.
• You can build a hobby on that.
• If you want to build a business, you need a more durable model.
• People may want to teach, but they have to earn a living. 
• Unless they are independently wealthy, they will favor something that pays.
• Schools teach classes in virtual worlds. Teachers are paid by the schools
• Can people get paid for teaching the skills needed in virtual worlds?
• Here I start a series on possible answers to that question

• Self-study instructional packages for sandbox (or private land) use.
• DIY kits with enhanced instructions.
• DIY kits with live instruction as needed.
• Instructional builds with fee-for-access.

In the olden days, big cities had huge convention halls.  To fill them, people traveled for hours to the big cities and stayed in hotels there.  Then, some convention decided that conventions were not about travel and convention halls. They were about bringing people together to share what they knew.  In the age of the internet, you don't need an airplane to do that

Why do we have conventions? 

To bring people with similar or related interests together in the same place at the same time--valuable for stimulating interaction

To get people to organize their thoughts for a presentation.  That gets better organized thinking and gets that organized thinking to other interested people right away.

• Why do we have conventions over a weekend?
• Can we spread our conventions out over a longer time? 
• Can we use internet services to get more efficient use out of conventions?

Reading a book means to me a new landscape, new street, new building, new person... All of them are in my head. It is my very private cinema, figments of my imagination. It is hard to share them with somebody else. But living in digital era gives me options and tools to try it. I can share my interpretation in machinima and my dreamscapes in virtual world.

My filming locations are running on OpenSimulator, multiplatform open source environment, which can be used to create a virtual world. You can create your own private world at your home computer. You can create virtual world for your friends or join any publicly accessible OpenSim virtual world and let people use and enjoy your creations.-You can visit my virtual world, walk these sweet landscapes and become that boy. 2015 HELP: BIZ: Backup. How well is Kitely protecting our data?

How well is Kitely protecting our data?

Recent problems with backup loss led me to check into the backup safety of data on Kitely.   I have heard of several cases of serious data loss with RAID discs,  so they are clearly inadequate protection.  No one method, no one location, no one machine is adequate.  Redundant storage is the only way to reduce the probability of failure and data loss to levels I could accept.

Kitely is a business and one of the business-like things I expected it to do is to have reliable, redundant,  procedures for off-site backup.  They do.
