Prerequisites

• Growth mindset

Class organization

•  Student-centered learning.
• Content available in the operating manual.
• Learners are adults, should expect to take responsibility for their own learning.
• "Teacher" gives Initial assignment, guidance in the use of resources, answers to questions.
• Learners are organized into teams of 4 to 6 members.
• Team activity is to be synchronous, but online in the virtual world.
• Team members do not have to be physically present at the meeting.
• Teams are formed by random assignment with consideration for available times.
• Teams can meet at any time the teacher is available.
• Where no travel is required, the meetings can be at night.

Learning objectives and assignments

• The learning objectives are the skills identified above.

Assignments

The growing number of metaverse  places on the internet offer increasing opportunities for digital content creators to market their products.  Here are some examples.

• Selling on the Marketplace Tutorial | Second Life

Metaverse markets

• You can sell things on Second Life Marketplace and Kitely Market.
• https://marketplace.secondlife.com/
• https://www.kitely.com/market
• You can look through these markets to get an idea of the competition.
• That competition has lots of experience and established customers.
• So you may want to look for additional markets.  

Selling on multiple markets

• You can import mesh objects into both of the above-mentioned worlds.
• And probably into any world where you want to sell your products.
• So you can sell objects in multiple markets.
• It is not so easy with scripted objects.  
• Second Life and Kitely scripts are written in LSL--the script language of SL.
• But scripts written for Second Life may not give the same result in Kitely--you have to test them.
• And those scripts will not work in grids other than Second Life and OpenSimulator. 
• So you may not want to sell scripted objects in markets beyond these two.
• Sell 3d models (Google search)

• OpenSimulator has a huge land area and most of it is unoccupied at any given time.  
• That is what happens when you can make an unlimited amount of low cost land.   
• If you want to find people in OpenSim/hypergrid, go to events or use OpenSimWorld.

How to find people with OpenSimWorld

• Find places that recently had people
• Teleport to one of these places.
• Click the People button to see a list of people nearby
• Right click on a name and teleport (or request TP) to a person.
• (If they are busy or AFK, they may not respond.)
• Open the World Map (Ctrl M) and look for green dots (marking people).
• Fly to where you see the most green dots.
• Find events in OpenSimWorld
• Skills analysis for new people in virtual worlds.

Owning digital land

• A common theme in selling land:  "They're not making any more of it."
• That does not apply to digital land. 
• More land just takes more servers and more digital memory.
• And they are making more of it when they have more buyers.
• Virtual land only exists on a server.
• Ownership is based on an agreement between you and the company running the server.
• That agreement may be included in a NFT or in the terms of service (TOS).
• In either case, read carefully.  There may be rules you have to follow.
• Violating the rules might get you banned from the place.
• Could you go to court?  Maybe.  
• Sometimes the TOS says that disputes are to be settled by arbitration,

Land value

• Land value (Investopedia)
• What can add value to a specific piece of digital land is traffic,
• the same thing that adds value to web sites on the flat web.
• A famous person as owner can generate a lot of traffic. 
• That would cause a rise in the value of nearby land.  
• The first to know can make a lot of money on this knowledge.
• But you won't be the first to know.
• The famous person and friends will know first.
• They will buy all the land they expect to appreciate.  

The opensource metaverse

• OpenSimulator is a special case.  It is open source.  
• That means you can download a free copy of the server software.
• You can run that copy on your own computer or on your own rented server.
• You can also make a transportable copy (OAR) of land you own on most grids.
• You can sell that copy to others and run it on your own machine.
• That is pretty much like owning your land.
