My avatar doesn't look right.
-The instructions here apply to the standard Second Life viewer, 2.6 or above. They may apply to recent third party viewers with such as Firestorm. Some items may not apply to older versions.

In general, such problems occur because the computer fails to get a complete download of the information required to render the avatar. The most likely cause is bandwidth inadequate for the amount of information to be transmitted in the time allowed.

Once you are in Second Life and things have rezzed around you, there may be enough bandwidth to do the job. But the attempted download has timed out by then. So the first level of fix is to trigger another download.

Suggested actions to trigger new download
If these steps do not fix the problem, or if the problem keeps coming back, you need to go to the second level of fix: Adjust your bandwidth or your bandwidth needs.

If you still have a problem:
- I see my avatar as a cloud
- Other people see my avatar as a cloud
- Part of my avatar is invisible
- My avatar is all jumbled up

- Change your active group
- Teleport to somewhere else (can be on the same sim)
- Edit your appearance if you can, make some change, save it
- Rebake several times: Crtl+Alt+r
- Put on another outfit

- Cut avatar rendering costs
- Cut graphics quality

Reset your router. Power it off for 30 seconds, then back on.

Next try
- Clear your cache
- Me- Preferences -Setup- Cache location-Reset
- (Don't enter a new location for the Cache. Just log out and log back in.)
If you are using dual monitors
Be sure to run Second Life on the primary monitor.
