Ruth 2.0 Paper dolls
Do these suggest a business model? Paper dolls did. But they are paper. Ruth 2.0 is digital. How can you get paper dolls onto the web. And where would they go on the web? How would they get there? Where would you keep them? This is all too complicated.

Ruth 2.0 is AGPL listed, which means she must always be free and you must pass that freedom on to others. This does not prohibit you making and selling clothing, skins, accessories, hair and other parts for her.
Project Ruth 2.0 - an Open Source Mesh Avatar by Shin Ingen. Ruth 2.0 is a low-poly mesh body, and is specifically designed for Opensimulator. She is built to use standard SL UV maps using a scratch-built mesh body.

Wikipedia
- Paper dolls are figures cut out of paper or thin card, with separate clothes, also made of paper, that are usually held onto the dolls by paper folding tabs. They may be a figure of a person, animal or inanimate object. Paper dolls have been inexpensive children's toys for almost two hundred years. Today, many artists are turning paper dolls into an art form.
Ruth 2.0 Help needed
Ruth 2.0 is a scratch-built, open-source, Opensim/Second Life compatible mesh avatar designed by Shin Ingin. She includes Blender (.blend) files, DAE exports, template textures, skins, and eventually will include scripts and HUD. The goal of Ruth 2.0 is to make a high quality, 100% free mesh avatar that can use accessories from Maitreya and other quality mesh products.
Help Needed. This is a new project and is still under development. Please volunteer to help! Collaborators can help in many areas. These range from general advice on what is needed, bug chasing, weight painting, skins, mesh making, scripting, and so on. As just one example, if you know Gimp, or Photoshop, we need help converting these many free skins into PNG textures, and then into in-world skins that are ready to wear. In world conferences are needed, too, to help spread the knowledge into new products.
Use Cases
Hypergrid resource
- This is the anticipated use.
- People are free to make and sell clothing for her.
- She is thus to be a digital paper doll.
- She will live in doll houses in OpenSimulator.
- She can live in a local computer:
- One-click setup for OpenSim--Sim on a stick. Software by Fred Beckhusen
- She goes way beyond a paper doll: She can walk and talk.
Digital paper doll
- She can live in any software that will host her.
- Some software will support changing her cloths and her appearance.
- That is similar to what was/is done with paper dolls.
- At present, there may be no software suitable for children of paper-doll age.
- But if there is a demand, the software can be developed
- In this form she is a file on a computer or tablet, an asset in local inventory
- What DragNDrop for web-worlds means for inventories
Personalized avatar for web-worlds
- I don't know that DragNDrop is available for avatars in web-worlds.
- It is available in Cybalounge for simpler assets.
- Drag and Drop building in Cybalounge: Tutorial
- But Cybalounge cannot yet support DragNDrop avatars.
- If it could, however, web-worlds could offer doll houses.
- Girls could bring their avatars to play.
- We don't want children playing with strangers.
- So these worlds are walled gardens, with registration, etc.
So as not to be sexist...
- Boys don't play with dolls. But we did not leave them out.
- Boys play with action figures.
- The don't want doll houses. They want space ships and battlefields.
- Digital technology can handle all of these wants.
- In fact it already does in virtual worlds.
