2017 BIZ: Did the closure of Zangrid result in loss of items bought on Kitely Market?

Did the closure of Zangrid result in 
loss of items bought on Kitely market?
Branded creators may be concerned that customers have lost some of their products as a result of the closure of Zangrid.  Exportable products could be taken to another grid, but items that are not exportable would be lost.  Items bought on Kitely Market would have a record of sale and some branded creators might want to offer replacements.  But they would need a way to contact customers. 
  • ZanGrid to close after five years as an OpenSim grid
  • The issue was discussed in a recent Kitely Community meeting.
  • Exportable items could be taken to Digiworldz or elsewhere.
  • But non-exportable items die with the grid.
  • Kayaker Magic asked about mass re-delivery of his products. 
  • Mass re-delivery of goods will get limited implementation on Kitely Market. 
  • But only delivery to Kitely avatars.  
  • Delivery to other grids results in too many problems requiring customer service.

The take-away

  • Exportable adds value to a product.  
  • You may not want to depend on a single grid to hold your inventory.
  • You may want to be sure your home grid will stay in business.
  • Here is another reason to have your inventory on your own computer.

  • You may want to establish email contact with branded creators.

Why branded creators?

  • Creators have no obligation to provide any kind of after-market service.
  • Branded creators usually want to treat their customer well.
  • That is part of the brand.  
  • But they have to find you to offer after-market service.
  • Email is a grid-independent way to contact you. 
  • Or for you to contact them.
