Live marketing in web-worlds:
Can virtual worlds get a piece of the action?
Can virtual worlds get a piece of the action?
The concept of live marketing in web-worlds is presented, with discussion about how the existing virtual world community can contribute to and benefit from this development.
Web-world for nonprofits
and public service organizations
What is live marketing?
- On a live radio show, you could call in and talk to a live host.
- It was happening live right then.
- Same with a live TV show.
- Same with a live web-world.
- You come into my web-world at 10 am California time on a week day.
- I expect to be there. Live. I am not very entertaining.
- But I can tell you about virtual worlds and web-worlds.
- And what's happening there.
- And if you ask me about them, I'll probably be live marketing to you.
- Or look around at Webworldz.
- I don't have a scheduled time there--yet.

Web-worlds for marketing
- "How could I use web-worlds in marketing?"
- They run in a browser.
- So they have the same potential distribution as most web pages.
- Web-world: Marketing. Selling your product in 3 dimensions
-
- My web office: Cybalounge.
- Don't register -- enter as guest. If you don't see me:
- Click the pointed pushpin on the bottom line
- See if I am in Selby's world.
- My office times: Weekdays: 12: -12:30 Central time (US)
- Maybe weekends, too. Other times by appointment.

What do web-worlds offer that is special?
- 3D views and interaction: People can walk around the car and get inside.
- Far to near: People can see the car from 100 feet, get in, and read the dashboard.
- P2p: People can bring the family and friends. Salespeople can drop in and chat.
- You can setup for email notification when someone comes into your world.
- Active rather than passive. People don't sit and look at pictures.
- They walk around in the pictures. They go where they want to.
- They look at what interests them. They talk about what interests them
- Social marketing. People can bring their friends. The can talk with their friends.
- If they like your product they can tell their friends about it.
- But in a web-world, they can also show their friends what they like.
- Or they can just bring the family in to have a family chat.
- You still have your marketing message in front of them.
- And you can change that message every minute if you want to.
- Or you could bring in people with entertainment.
- You can show a live stream. You can make many worlds for many people.
How does the virtual world community fit in?
- Virtual worlds have experienced builders.
- Virtual worlds already have lots of content and skilled builders.
- Many scripters in virtual worlds can work in Javascript.
- All virtual worlders are comfortable working in virtual worlds.
- Some virtual worlders are entertainers.
How would web-worlds bring in an audience?
- Same as they used to do on TV.
- Entertainers: Singers, comedy acts.
- Celebrities: Chat with...
- Audience participation games and quizzes.
- Audience participation acts, with prizes.
- The people in the web-worlds make up the audience.
Can a web-world hold lots of people?
- Probably not at this time. But you can make lots of web-worlds.
- And you can set them up to work together.
- And you can stream web-worlds to the web for others to watch.
The economics of product consultants (sales agents)
- Work at home, part time, chose your hours.
- Maybe work on commission.
- Well suited to people with disabilities.
- Information and training resources would be on the web.
- Virtual worlds have a population of people well prepared to work in 3D worlds.
Import things from virtual worlds into web-worlds.
- We can do that: On the HyperGrid: IMA Outpost Alpha
- IMA Community web site: Visit a web-world.
- That cabin was imported from a virtual world into the web-world.
- We already have lots of existing content in our virtual worlds.
- And we have skilled builders making new content all the time.
