2015 WRITE: Virtual Outworlding, this blog, just passed 5 million hits

Virtual Outworlding, this blog,
just passed 5 million hits
So it is time to thank my readers.  And the people who put my blog posters on their land.  And the people who pass on the links to my articles in Google+ and Facebook.  And the people who use my curation features to research something about virtual worlds.  BTW, the count has been going for nearly 5 years, so the blog is averaging over a million hits a year.
Objective: The goal of this blog is to show people what they need to know to get the best out of virtual worlds and to suggest lines of creative thinking on how to exploit the potential of virtual worlds.

Permalinks and content updates.

A number of the posts on this blog are of lasting interest.  Some of the content has to be updated, but  fortunately, I can edit the posts and keep the content up-to-date (without changing the link).   Posts that have recently been updated will have a title prefix of the year of the most recent update.

Invited articles and press releases

I am looking for invited articles and news releases that fit these themes.  If you have a report or release that you want me to consider, you can contact me as Selby Evans in Kitely, Linkedin or Google+ .   In Second Life, the best way to contact me is to send Thinkerer Melville a notecard inworld (my IMs get capped).   Be sure to include relevant slurls, web links and images.
-
You can also make a comment on this blog.  In that case, your post should carry the news you want to release.  I may not pick up the information, at least not immediately.  In some cases, I may not post on it but will pass it on in Google+ communities.   But if I see something that calls for follow-up, I will get back to it when I have a place on my publishing schedule.
-
Please note that I am primarily interested in actionable content--content that some readers could use in things they are doing or planning.   That also means I need it at least a week in advance.

Publishing schedule

Usually there will be one post a day except Saturdays and holidays.

How to handle a Hypergrid address

From any Hypergrid-enabled grid, paste the address into the address bar of Firestorm and press enter. Or paste it into the world map search bar of any viewer, search, and click Teleport when the destination is found. If it doesn't work, don't give up. Try again in a minutes.  Sometimes the first try fails (probably times out).  And try again a few hours later. Some hypergrid destinations are offline part of the day.

    2. Congrats! That's very impressive. SL is sort of a "By the people for the people" type platform, and this blog is a great way you contribute to enhance the play of everyone. Thanks!
