EVENTS: OPENSIM: Kitely Events Calendar

Kitely Events Calendar

Kitely Calendar:  A project of the Kitely Community Meeting

This post is being used to create a published events calendar for Kitely.   There is a BOP (Browser on Prim) version on Cookie II, full perm, free to copy, and for sale at zero KC.   You will probably want the poster version, which displays only the calendar, not the surrounding blog text (this display is minor adjustment in texture positioning).
-
The BOPs I make available are 1 prim, full perm (at least that is what I intend), and Creative Commons license, attribution only.  The have a script that updates the post and display every 15 mins.  That re-positions the display in case someone scrolls it.    You can mod the script to set the display to another web page (such as your web site or your own calendar).

For authority to post events, contact Selby Evans in Kitely.

How to post an event on the calendar

You should get a letter saying that handy.low.systems has given you access...
  1. Look on the left side of your Google calendar for "My calendars
  2. Click that if you don't see a list under it.
  3. Look for "Kitely events"  in the list
  4. Hover your cursor over that and click the down arrow that appears.
  5. Click "Create event on this calendar."
  6. Give Google the time of the event as it will be on your local time
  7. The time on the calendar should be Pacific coast time.
  8. Put the Pacific (Kitely time) in the description.

Tips on posting an event

  • Don't assume the location field will work for a virtual place
  • Put location links in the description.
  • Include the web address for the Kitely world
  • Be sure visitors can find the venue from their arrival point
  • Don't spam or post fake sales.
  • Use the description to tell people why they want to come to your event.
  • Know your target market.  Talking to everybody is talking to nobody.
  • Start with what your target people are interested in.
  • Use language that interests your target people.

Who wants to post on the calendar?

A project of the Kitely Community Meeting

The Kitely Community Meeting meets regularly at the Kitely Welcome Center on Wednesdays at 1 PM Kitely time (US Pacific coast time) to work on plans for improving and promoting Kitely. The CEO of Kitely (Ilan Tochner) usually attends and provides updates on Kitely plans and progress.  Other identify problems and suggest improvements.  Where possible, as with the calendar, we implement improvements.

The calendar on the right displays the blog.  The calendar on the left show the usual poster display after a little tinkering with texture positions hides everything but the calendar itself.
