  • Tour Moya land with the famous artist Patrick Moya
  • Moya has been at the forefront since the 1970s of straddling the latest forms of media and technology to benefit art. 
  • He is an early pioneer of video art.
  • Moya become a digital artist since his early work on computer in the mid-80s : 
  • now, since 2007, he is the owner of a virtual Moya Land in the 3D web of Second Life.

  • OpenSimulator already has a thriving art community.
  • With a lot of artists and content from LEA:
  • Artlandia: Spiral Silverstar, Gracie Kendal, Alpha Auer, Freewee Ling
  • Much of the art that was in LEA can be transferred to OpenSim grids.
  • And OpenSim grids can easily host all the recoverable art from LEA.
  • I am offering at least 20 sim-sized plots (256X256) in Kitely.

  • Note that in OpenSim, you can save your sim as a file (OAR).

2016 ART: PEOPLE: Art of the virtual worlds. Curation and categories

Art of the virtual worlds.  Curation and categories
Since virtual worlds offer new possibilities in art, new categories are needed to describe such art.  Here are my preliminary suggestions, as of now.  I may have a revised list next year.  I hope I do.  I hope I am smarter next year.  Feel free to suggest additional categories in comments below.

Mini-monoverse Short Poetry Workshop, Tue 11/15, 7pm SLT

This week the Short Poetry Workshop presents the Mini-monoverse, a poem made up of two stanzas of five three-syllable lines with a rhyme scheme of a/a/a/a/a for the first stanza and b/b/b/b/b for the second stanza. Multiple verses continue the mono-rhyme scheme. So join us at the Short Poetry Library to learn, write and share your poems.

Installation art (virtual)

Art created in a large virtual space.  The art may use the changing views produced as the observer moves through the space and the changing shadows with sun angle.  Virtual installation could be used to show how a real installation would look if built. 

Installation art (physical)

Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that often are site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called public art, land art or intervention art; however, the boundaries between these terms overlap.

          Virtual mobile art displayed at the HG WIP show.  This art would probably be a part of an art installation.  Installation art is more practical in a virtual world than in the old ("real") world.  People can bring virtual installation art into the old world with a large-screen video.

            Virtual worlds are made by people, and for people.  With a little skill, you can make the world you want to show. You control the sounds, the sights, the colors, the movements, the whole environment.  If you can make music, you can also make the visuals.  Just as Disney could do in Fantasia, but without the cost.    Multimedia art in the metaverse is the art of putting these things together to create  a new art in the new medium of virtual worlds.
