2016 ART: PEOPLE: Art of the virtual worlds. Curation and categories

Art of the virtual worlds.  Curation and categories
Since virtual worlds offer new possibilities in art, new categories are needed to describe such art.  Here are my preliminary suggestions, as of now.  I may have a revised list next year.  I hope I do.  I hope I am smarter next year.  Feel free to suggest additional categories in comments below.

Mini-monoverse Short Poetry Workshop, Tue 11/15, 7pm SLT

This week the Short Poetry Workshop presents the Mini-monoverse, a poem made up of two stanzas of five three-syllable lines with a rhyme scheme of a/a/a/a/a for the first stanza and b/b/b/b/b for the second stanza. Multiple verses continue the mono-rhyme scheme. So join us at the Short Poetry Library to learn, write and share your poems.

Flat art

Art created by importing a photograph of existing 2D art.  Easy to do and lends itself to the creation of instructive virtual art museums.  People put together virtual museums that illustrate the development of art trends

3-D adapted art

Art based on existing two-dimensional art, generally well known.   A 3-D representation of the implied world is created, generally maintaining the style of the original artist

Installation art

Art created in a large virtual space.  The art may use the changing views produced as the observer moves through the space and of the changing shadows with sun angle.  Virtual installation could be used to show how a real installation would look if built.

Animated art

The art may be scripted or GIF

Physical art from the virtual world (3d printing)

Sound in art

Art that produces sounds, possibly interactively

Poetic art

Art created to accompany a poetry reading.

Multimedia art

Art that relies on sound, video effects, particle effects, animation, etc. in combination to produce an overall impression in the observer.

Interactive art

Art that responds to the actions of the observer.  Sorry.  I have seen examples, but cannot report these with stills, so I have no examples to report

Mathematical art, Fractals, etc.
