Open Simulator viewer (OSV)
The previous lead programmer for the viewer Kokua is retiring and asking for volunteers to take over the project. Infinite Metaverse Alliance is forking the code to take over the OpenSim part. (Kokua was already being split to provide an dedicated OpenSim viewer.) The dedicated OSim viewer can be modified to fit the needs and interests of the OSim community.
- IMA takes on dedicated Open Simulator viewer
- Forked from previous Kokua
- A viewer specific to Open Simulator.
- Designed to fit the needs of the OSim community.
- Based on advice from the OSim community.
- Open Simulator User Survey (by IMA) - Viewer Software
- Working groups already formed.
- Anyone interested is welcome to join.
- Especially anyone in the current viewer development teams.

Previous viewer-related suggestions from this blog
Look at the instructions for logging into a grid
- They are too complicated for normal people. They are suited to Vulcans.
- FIRESTORM: Logging on to Kitely or another grid
- NMA low tech entry path for starting in Hypergrid
- Bringing new people into virtual worlds? Bring them in via Cookie II or use the NMA method on your own site
After they solve this puzzle what happens?
- They arrive at the grid welcome center and ask "What do I do now?"
- An educator brought in students this way (in SL).
- 50% of the students had problems getting to his educational sim.
- In some OpenSim grids, he could have brought students directly to his sim.

Imaginary grid oriented viewer and entry plan
- Download offered directly from the grid registration site.
- Can't we have a Firestorm APP? Apps work with the mass market
- Firestorm has made good progress in making Firestorm easy to install.
- Select an initial interest on registration.
- The grid has an install script that customizes the viewer:
- Login set to that grid.
- Arrive at location fitting initial interest or educational need.
- Voice on as default
- Click/walk on as default
- Double-click teleport on as default
- Going places in the metaverse: ClickNWalk, Dble-click TP should be default
- New people are automatically in a welcome group for the grid on arrival.
- New arrivals automatically get beginner information, landmarks and contacts.
- New arrivals automatically get information relevant to their interests.
Why would a commercial grid want to go to this trouble?
- Product differentiation.
- User lock-in:
- Going to another grid is harder if they have not solved the entry maze.
- Easy entry as a marketing tool.
- "EZ, the grid even your grandmother could use."
- "Computer science is not a prerequisite for classes on EZ Grid"

As a virtual assistant you should basically be a jack-of-all-trades. You must a skills in blogging, data entry to email management. You can work at home, but you need a decent laptop or a desktop computer, top virtual assistant does not need to have high end specs, and of course a decent and stable internet connection.
