The Dickens Project has become a winter holiday tradition for a growing number of Second Life residents since it began as a special seasonal presentation by Seanchai Library in 2008.  It transformed into an interactive environment in 2012, then to a full region experience for 2017 and 2018. Seanchai Library is proud to announce that they will be opening the doors of The Dickens Project 2019 Edition beginning December 1.

A report from a learning project in a German university.  The project was done in a browser-based virtual world (a web-world). The project produced a workshop room   Unlike most such rooms, you can go there now (instructions in the article).

• The people are there as avatars.

• Here they are probably brainstorming and planning.

• Team sports do not cover the whole domain of team skills.
• People also get paid to work in teams.

Can students really work effectively in groups?

• Not without practice.  The same as with swimming.
• "Sometimes most of the work is done by a few of the students."
• That happens when the project is not effectively structured. 
• "The students lack project management skills."
• Developing skills is what they go to school for.
• "Teams need somebody to manage them."
• Self-managed teams (search)
• Business teams with no experienced leader often have a Group facilitator (Wikipedia)
• That's in business.  Education can't afford that. 
• But it can afford the help of a Digital Teaching Assistant (DTA). 
• And a DTA can be designed by a group facilitator and a project manager.
