2015 HG: PEOPLE: BIZ: WIP Show, works in progress on the Hypergrid June 3, 2015

WIP SHOW Show and Tell of Works In Progress
June 3, 2015

Hypergridders have lots of work in progress.  The WIP show is a place where we can get together and show it.  Show what we are doing, tell a little about it.   Maybe get the presentation on video, as here.  Maybe ask other creators for advice, scripts, or content. Certainly find out what other creators are working on. Creative collaboration, we call it.

  • Hobo Sandbox on Cookie II

2015 HELP: Thinkerer Utility Kit has utility scripts and objects for starting in HG

Thinkerer Utility Kit has utility scripts and objects
            for starting in HG
The Thinkerer Utility Kit is at the entrance to the Hobo Sandbox on Cookie II in Kitely.  The box and contents are free.  Take a copy of the box and drag anything you want into your inventory.  The contents are mostly utility scripts and objects for use in OpenSim.  There are also a few items that I have mentioned in articles on this blog.
            Thinkerer Utility Kit

            Location

            • Cookie II web page
            • HG address:  grid.kitely.com:8002
            • Paste the HG address into the World Map, next to Find. Click Find.
            • From Kitely: hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Cookie II/125/356/22
            • Paste the hop in the nav bar of Firestorm, enter.
            • Or use the World Map to go to Cookie II, then look for walkin TP to sandbox
            -
            • All the scripts are CCO: Use any way you please, no attribution.
            • There is noting worth stealing here anyway.
            • This is just a convenient collection for new people on the HG
            • Not exportable?  I have tried to make everything exportable
            • If it is not exportable, I don't know how to fix it.
            • You can copy scripts to a notepad (any text editor that does not format)
            • And recreate them on your grid.

2015 HOBBIES: NPCS and Holoscenes in OpenSim. Report from the HG Safari

                NPCS and Holoscenes in OpenSim.
                Report from the HG Safari
Every Wednesday, the Hypergrid Safari travels to some interesting place on the hypergrid.  Usually there is someone present to talk about the special things at that location.  This time, Nara Malone demonstrated the new features (of NPCs and Holoscenes) available for creating immersive stories in virtual worlds.

This week at the Short Poetry Workshop Arabella Nemeth is guest host for the Genre-Gossip workshop where we’ll explore how to extend our use of language by imitating a genre from other media, such as books, movies, or everyday language use. 2017 HG: HELP: Pick-a-grid checklist for the HG: What to consider in choosing a grid for your project

                  Pick-a-grid checklist for the HG:
What to consider in choosing a grid for your project
                  Updated 2/6/2017
The best HG grid for you depends on your objectives.  Here I list some things that are important to some people.  Below the fold, I give some information  and useful links for each item.  To use the checklist, copy-paste the list into a notepad, delete the items that don't matter to you, and evaluate any grids you are considering with the remaining checklist.

Do any of these things matter to you?

                  • Knowing you can go to another grid if this one does not work out
                  • Lots of space, low cost?
                  • Control your own grid, set the rules, maybe low cost
                  • 24/7 uptime? Commercial grids
                  • Price
                  • Reliable backup?
                  • Traffic to your place?
                  • Market services
                  • Promotion of your place on the web
                  • Export to OAR backup file
                  • Help/service, problem resolution (fast)
                  • Infrastructure quality
                  • Infrastructure performance
                  • Inworld currency
                  • Voice
                  • Languages other than English
                  • Life style (eg.LGBT) friendly
                  • Active community promoting community interests
