(Filmed in Second Life) #VWEDU:
Filmed in Second Life, with all of the clips and screenshots pulled from the previous ten videos in my MFA Thesis playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...), this "artist statement" concludes—and revisits—a series in which I combine vocal recordings I made of my writing with footage I shot of various virtual places; together these videos form my final thesis project at the California Institute of the Arts for an Interschool MFA in VoiceArts & Creative Writing, with a concentration in Integrated Media.
Many thanks to the incredible creators of the locations where I filmed—identified in each video's description and in this video's onscreen closing credits—and thanks as well to Tornleaf (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/st...), who created the little fox avatar that is (very intentionally) the only sign of avatar-based life in the entire series.
Last but not least, thank you to all of the untold Residents, past and present, who make Second Life what it is: a vast, virtual canvas; a collection of digitized dreams; an imaginary world that I continue to eagerly explore and discover, even after almost fourteen years here.
