cured by this one weird trick
My avatar appearance got corrupted recently.  Someone else had the same problem.  I found a fix, short of a clean reinstall of Firestorm 64 and report it here.

  • Headline hype!  "The heartbreak of psoriasis" is vintage hype, nearly 60 years old.
  • "One weird trick" just emerged as click-bait on Facebook in the last ten years.
  • The skin disease just attacked my avatar a couple of weeks ago.   
  • In Firestorm 64 bit
  • It also attacked a friend of mine, so the treatment may be of use to some people.
  • The trick: I used my Firestorm 32 bit in the same grid.  
  • Then went back to my regular 64 bit viewer.  This worked for me.
  • A similar maneuver worked for my friend.
  • But the disease comes back when I travel the Hypergrid.
  • I have to avoid coming back to my home grid in my diseased avatar.

     The problem is in my 64 bit version of Firestorm.  I could probably fix it completely by doing a clean reinstall.  I may do that eventually, but for now I will keep it in case I want to investigate it more.  It is no problem.   One of great things about virtual worlds is that we accept people as they are.  Skin-diseased?  Cross-dresser?  Monkey?  Over-sized mouse?  It's all okay.  We don't judge people by their appearance.  We judge people by what they do.
