2016 WRITE: EDU: Ever heard of writer's block in role-play? Role-play in virtual worlds as practice writing

Role-play in virtual worlds as practice writing.
Writing-by-improv.

Role playing has

  • characters
  • a scenario
  • a place
  • a quest
  • a challenge
  • a resolution

What else does role-playing need to be story-telling?

What else does role-playing need to be story-telling?

          • a publisher

Where could you get a publisher?

          • Your blog.
          • With photos with photos taken during the role-play.
          • Maybe with videos taken during role play.
          • Videos posted on YouTube, then embedded in the blog.
          • Maybe with readers invited to submit scenarios in comments on the blog.
          • Blogging in virtual worlds. How to... Summary

Yesbutters:  Yes, but blogs don't make money

            • Not unless they get a lot of readers.  Like it is with books
            • But think of it as a learning experience.   Like it usually is with first books.
            • And in case it does make money, be sure to get releases from all contributors.
            • And if you are already making a lot of money from your writing,
            • you are too busy to be reading this.

            Writing by improv?

            • Everything you write is improvised when you do it.
            • But improv means getting together with other people to produce a scene.
            • A kind of collaborative writing.

Yesbutters: Yes, but writing is a solitary task

            • Not unless you are writing to yourself.
            • Generally, you write to an audience.
            • And if you write fiction, you have to write for all those characters.
            • You can be any of the characters, can't you?
            • You may learn more about the characters when you play them.
            • You may learn how your readers will react to them.
            • You may learn from seeing how other people play them.
            • See, a learning experience.
