2016 WRITE: PEOPLE: If you want people to talk about your blog, don't lock them out

If you want people to talk about your blog,
don't lock them out

Do you want comments on your blog posts? Do you want people to send your post to Facebook, Goggle or other social media?  Then be sure it is easy for them to do what you want them to do.

I follow lots of blogs.   Often I want to mark a Like, send one to my Google stream, or make a comment .  Sometimes I can.  Too often I find no way to do that easily or at all.  If you are not offering your readers an easy way to comment on your blog and an easy way to pass on your article to others, you are missing a valuable way to promote your work.

I also write a blog. So I have to deal with these matters from both sides.   After the break I will offer some suggestions.

2016 WRITE: BIZ: Intersections, and the legacy of Myst, writing linking books in virtual worlds

Intersections, and the legacy of Myst,
writing linking books in virtual worlds

Intersections is a 4x4 megaregion on Kitely developed from the idea originated in Myst, that it is possible to create and visit worlds by writing about them.   Extending that idea to virtual worlds led to the creation of worlds where people can visit, explore, do things, chat with friends and enjoy in ways that go far beyond solving puzzles.

Christmas in a virtual world

Go there

• In Kitely, put the line below in the Firestorm nav bar, enter
• hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Intersections/569/695/34
• On HG, put the line below in the World Map, next to Find.  Click Find, TP
• grid.kitely.com:8002:Intersections
• Web page: https://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Dot-Matrix/Intersections

In the original Myst

• You could only go to a few spots where the images had been prepared.
• You were all by yourself, alone.
• You had to solve a puzzle to get back from where you went.
• Myst.
• 'Myst' is getting a TV series

2016 PROMO: HG: Promoting the Hypergrid with Social Media. HGProjects

Promoting the Hypergrid with Social Media.  HGProjects

Probably the strongest reason why we need the HGProjects organization: To organize promotion of the Hypergrid.

Firestorm promotion for Second Life

• Kara's Korner, Second Life Adventures
• Share your love of Second Life with a testimonial
• This is a good promotional campaign.
• Way ahead of the "Be a Vampire!" campaign.
• Look at their landing pages
• I'll bet somebody at Firestorm designed it.
• Why can't Hypergrid do something like that?

-

• Hypergrid has satisfied customers
• Hypergrid has communities that could make landing pages.
• But Second Life has one thing Hypergrid does not have.
• Organization.  (OK. Maybe I exaggerate a bit.)

2016 EVENTS: HG: P2P: Sometimes you have to cancel an event. Sometimes you don't. HGProjects

Sometimes you have to cancel an event.
Sometimes you don't. HGProjects

Hypergrid has resources.  One G+ group is specifically for and about performers doing Opensim events. There are others that are probably read by performers doing Opensim events.  If you are on the Hypergrid, performers can come to you with no extra login.  Maybe you can find a substitute act.

• Venue managers:
• Event managers:
• Performers on the Hypergrid:
• These G+ communities can help you handle bookings.
• Opensim AAM Virtual Performers
• Entertainment on the Hypergrid
• Maybe they can find a quick substitute for a cancellation.

2016 PROMO: HG: Virtual worlds welcome on the web. Bypass the grid entry. HGProjects proposal.

Virtual worlds welcome on the web
Bypass the grid entry. HGProjects proposal.
Update 5/24/2016

You are inviting new people into a virtual world.  You want to bring them into a place that will make them want to come back.   To do that you market to people about what they want, then get those that show interest to a place where they can start doing what they want, as fast as you can.  Here is my proposal.

Welcome to the world of Virtual Worlds (web site)

• "Get immersed in virtual reality!"
• Show why they want to go there:
• "Find worlds that fit your interests!"
• Show blurbs about popular interests
• Blurbs have links to interest communities.
• Interest communities exist as G+ communities and as inworld places.
• "How to get there" and "What to do there" are intro sections.
• General parts of intro sections are prepared by HGProjects.
• Specialized parts of intro sections a prepared by relevant community.
• "How to get there" has instructions on getting to a place run by that community.
• This is my straw-man model.  Of course it needs fixing.
• So tell us how to fix it--tell us in comments on this article
