2016 WRITE: PEOPLE: Writers group for creative collaboration. How does this plan sound?

Writers group for creative collaboration.
How does this plan sound?
I am starting a creative collaboration writers group on the Hypergrid.   The initial activity of this group will be a regular meeting, probably weekly, in which we do cold reads of dialogs written by members of the group.  The products of this group may be published in blog(s) and considered by New Media Arts for production as short plays.  A preliminary plan is presented here.  Comments welcome.

Writers group creative collaboration

-
  • We will read mainly dialog, in stage play or video form.
  • We will read the dialog as a cold (unrehearsed) read.
  • with other writers volunteering as actors.
  • This form of reading lets you hear how others will read your dialog
  • And how they interpret it on first read.

  • (More after the break)
  • Where is Arcadia?

Not just for theater and video

        • This form may seem slanted away from text,
        • but text fiction usually has lots of dialog.
        • And we are certainly not limiting this to fiction.
        • Instruction and information can also be presented as dialog.
        • And if your story is bought for video production, you already have some scenes in script form.
        -
        • There will be some description of the surroundings,
        • but emotions should be portrayed by the dialog and/or stage directions.
        • People may revise and reread as often as they wish.
        • The meetings will be conducted in a sandbox, so people can rez props if they wish.

So that we can freely share our work, we agree

        • this meeting is for writing practice, not for the presentation of finished work,
        • We agree that ideas presented in the meeting are public property.
        • and may be used, without credit by anyone.
        • We expect that no one will present an important idea they are developing.
