HGprojects organization?  
Do we have one? Do we need one?

The Hypergrid is made of a collection of people working together for mutual benefit.   Projects are emerging that are aimed specifically at benefiting the people of the HG.  There may be a benefit from creating an organization to help these projects work together.

        Who might want to support such an organization?

        Business direct

        • Commercial grid owners wanting more customers
        • Content creators selling their goods, especially on the Kitely market
        • Markets (inworld or web-based)
        • Property developers seeking renters
        • Entertainment performers and venues
        • These would have direct benefit from the projects.

        Non-business shared

        • Educators who bring students into virtual worlds
        • Artists who display and possibly sell their work in virtual worlds
        • Creative people who want others to share their creativity
        • Hobbyists who what to share their hobbies with others
        • Everyone who sees a value in a busy economy
        • Bloggers who write about the HG or virtual worlds

        Everyone on the Hypergrid benefits from increasing numbers of users. 

        • More people mean more visibility and thus wider awareness.
        • Content creators get more customers.
        • Entertainment services get a larger audience.
        • Potential customers get more choices.
        • Venues get more entertainers.
        • Commercial grids get growth in potential customer base
        • OpenSim developers get more consulting demand.

        Maria Korolov collects and reports the kind of information a Chamber of Commerce might collect and report.  Those reports appear in Hypergrid Business.

        Various grids or groups promote HG-wide projects.


        What goals would the HG Chamber of Commerce work on?

        Reduce barriers to entry

        In a HG chamber of commerce, this activity would be a continuing committee with the mission: 

              Increase HG publicity and promotions

              • Identify and promote free or low cost methods for promotion.
              • Focus especially on outworld* audiences.
              • *Outworld: not yet in virtual worlds.

              Promote Destination Guides

              Promote ease of Hypergridding




              Encourage and promote communities of interest

              Help to develop HG wide event promotion.

              Identify and promote needed technical improvements
