  • Meet people
  • Add person to your Friends list

  • Remove person from friends list ("defriend")
  • Block: Block the person from contacting you.

Meet people
To add a person to your Friends list:
  • Avatar present:  Right click on avatar -- Click Add Freind
  • From Nearby list: Click green info button. Click Add Freind  
  • From the person's Profile:  Click Add Friend

Use your Friends List
  • To find friends on your Friends list:
  • Click on the People button  V3.2 People button (2 heads)
  • Friends tab -- type name in white bar at top.
See what friends and others are posting about
  • Look on your Profile Profile Button (framed head)
  • Click the Feed tab
  • You will see posts by your friends
  • Some friends will post about interesting places and events
  • To see posts from anyone, get their Profile, click the Feed tab 
Find People who share your interests
  • Fill out your interests in your profile: 
  • Profile Button (framed head)
  • Click on an interest for a list of people with similar interests
  • Or check the groups your friends like
  • In a person's profile, the group names are in green text.  
  • You can click on a group name to see the group profile
  • If there is a join button (upper right), click it to join
  • No join button?  Ask your friend.
Let someone find you on the map:
  • On the person's profile
  • Click the gear
  • Click permissions
  • Check see me on map
  • Be sure to save
  • Give these instructions to the person: 
  • Open world map: Ctrl-m or World (top left).
  • Click on down pointer on list that says: Online Friends
  • Click the name of the person you want to find.  
  • Click Teleport button if you want to drop in on them.
See when your friends (or students) come online
  • Preferences (Ctrl P or Me--top left) 
  • Notifications
  • Tell me when my friends log in or out -- check box
Friends conference 
 IM more than one Resident at a time? (Also works for teleport.)
  • Go to Friends list.   
  • Hold  down Ctrl and click the Friends you want to  IM.    
  • Click IM/Call   
Look for gatherings of people on the map
  • World (Top) -- World map
  • Hot Key for map: Ctrl+m
  • Green dots are people.  
  • Click on zoom bar (bottom right) to get a wide view.   
  •  A stack of green dots means lots of people. 
  • To teleport to a place on the map, double-click on the place.  
  • To look around on the map, hold down the left button and drag
Remove person frrom friends list ("defriend")
  • Right click on your avatar 
  • Click on My Friends 
  • Find name of avatar 
  • Right click on name of avatar 
  • On avatar profile, click on Friend button
Block:  Block a person from contacting you. 
  • From chat, IM, or group IM history: 
  • Hover cursor over name
  • Click on the person's green Info button.
  • Click on gear
  • Click on block.
Manage blocked people and objects 

  • Open people window  V3.2 People button (2 heads)
  • Click Blocked tab
  • To unblock an item, click it, then click on the trash can (upper right)

Profile: Privacy tab
  • Allow this person to:
  • See my online status
  • See me on the map (the person can find you and TP to where you are).
  • Edit, Delete, or take my objects
  • Check the boxes to suit you.
Keep people from finding me in search
  • Me (top left)-Preferences-Privacy.
  • Uncheck Show me in Search Results
  • Check Only friends and groups know I'm online
User and Display Names 
  • Every account has a permanent user name
  • People can have several accounts with different user names. 
  • A person can also set a  Display Name for an account. 
  • That can be anything the person chooses 
  • and can be changed once a week.
  • Edit your profile to set or change it -- Me (top left)- Profile
