2015 HELP: HG: Pandora, an NPC learning lab. An NPC is a body double for an avatar

Pandora, an NPC learning lab
An NPC is a body double for an avatar
Used for video production and immersive stories
Non-Player Characters (NPCs)  are made as duplicates of avatars.  They can be animated to duplicate animated actions of avatars.  They are of particular value for making videos, where they can be used in many scenes in place of the duplicated avatar.  They are also of value in immersive stories, where they can appear characters in the stories.  NPCs can be created and used in OpenSim, not Second Life

2015 P2P: VID: The WIP show special, Fred Buckhusen tells about and demos his NPC controller

The WIP show special, Fred Buckhusen
tells about and demos his NPC controller
NPC's are Non-Playing Characters. They can look exactly like any avatar you can wear. You can animate them and, with the aid of the NPC controller, put them through a sequence of actions to execute a scene for a video capture or to greet an assist a visitor in a computer-presented story

***2016 PEOPLE: TECH: Konk Combat Game Builder, with NPC interactions. The Metaverse Tour investigates

Konk Combat Game Builder, with NPC interactions.
    The Metaverse Tour investigates
In virtual worlds, you don't just play games.  You can build games to suit you.  Here is a report on game builder software that supports many common features of combat games: health and healing,  morality, fighting, etc.  And you can play the game by yourself or with your friends.  You can modify the theme--make it educational, if you want.

    • Watch on YouTube
    • -
    • Go to Konk Combat Game Builder:  HG Address:
    • grid.kitely.com:8002:konk Role Play Sims 2
    • Put the HG address in the Find bar of the World Map, click FindTP
    • Web address:  http://opensimworld.com/hop/75529-konk-Role-Play-Sims-2
    • In Kitely, use the World Map to find and go to the sim: konk Role Play Sims 2
    • Buy the Game Builder system:
    • Buy it: Konk Combat and Role PlayGame Builder System V1.5
    • Web site
    • Don't think of this just as a game of combat.
    • Think how it could be used for other objectives such as education.
    • Here, I speculate a bit.  All study is a quest.
    • And some education is based on game principles such as challenge and winning the increments.
    • Note: I speculate here about how a game like this could be designed for instruction.
    • The game system cited in this report might require major changes to function this way.

2015 EDU: GAME: Puzzle pictures: Party game? Educational game? Mastery quiz? Quest?

    Puzzle pictures: Party game?
    Educational game? Mastery quiz? Quest?
A virtual world makes it fairly easy to create static scenes that depict things that are educationally important in some contexts.   Outside of school, people often like to answer quizzes. And people will pay money to solve mystery stories and to complete quests.  Could we use virtual worlds to make quizzes and quests for educational purposes?

    Learning objective

    Check your knowledge of history

    • What period is depicted here?
    • Who are the people sitting on the thrones?
    • What characters are out of place?
    • Are those large spotted cats out of place?
    • What is the bird on the banner?
    • What do the letters SPQR on the banner stand for?

    Check your internet search skills

    • If you don't know all the answers to the questions above:
    • Use any internet resources to find the answers.
    • Score yourself:  If you know all the answers, give yourself 100 points.
    • For every internet search you do, deduct 5 points.
    • Use your internet smarts to design your search.
    • Use your powers of deduction to make the best use of what you find.
    • Some searches will answer more than one question.
    • Alternatively, you may be timed and get more credit for less time.

        NPC Bots

        • All the actors featured are scripted NPC ( Non Player Character ) bots
        • How to get NPC maker
        • The NPC maker in the article above will duplicate the avatar that clicks on it
        • and will animate the clone with an animation in the maker's contents.
The NPC Maker uses the function: osNpcCreate.  This function is marked as high threat and appears to have some undocumented limitations on who can use it in a particular sim.  It seems that use is limited to the sim owner and some others with high level authority in the owning group or in the sim.

        New NonProfit Commons Community (NPC):
        Collaborative Model.
        Invited article by WisdomSeeker for
        Nonprofit Commons
NonProfit Commons is a long-established community in virtual worlds.  It has served as a focal point for gathering nonprofit organizations and helping them to share information and experience.  It is now preparing to reorganize and is considering alternative organizations.

        What is a Collaborative Model?

There are many ways we, as separate individuals and organizations, can join together under an umbrella that will benefit us all. Here I offer some ideas for the groundwork to consider as we move forward.
