"The majority of Art Deco-influenced architecture took place in cities outside of Paris:  Miami, Florida;  Mumbai, India;  Havana, Cuba;  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  In the U.S., opulent interiors were created in numerous cities for movie theaters, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, ocean liners, banks, lobbies, and elevator doors.  Different regional variants within the U.S. used different cultural elements.  For example, Mayan and Aztec influences were to be found in southern California, and tropical influences - with its pastel shades of flamingo pink, sea green and banana yellow - were used in Florida."

If you don't own land, you can practice building on one of the sandboxes listed here:
---------------
Vocabulary
  • Prim: Basic unit of construction.  Like a piece of wood to a carpenter.
  • Megaprim:  A prim with dimensions over 10 x 10 x 10.  Obsolescent term.
  • Sandbox: a parcel that lets anyone build (create, rez) things and has autoreturn set to several hours.
  • Autoreturn:  A parcel setting that causes objects to be returned after a fixed time unless they set to the controlling group.
  • Land Right-click Window:  A window offering access to the things you want to do with a parcel or the land in it. The secret of the right-click windows
  • Edit Window and Tabs: A window with multiple tabs, each offering information and control related to aspects of building.  The tabs important to new learners are: General, Object, Texture, and Contents.
  • -
  • V3.2 Build Button (hammer)
Click on Build to create an object.  Cursor becomes your magic wand.  Click on the ground and you create a plywood box .5 meters on a side.  This is a prim.

  • MySL (see below) may be more reliable.

  • The notecard may open for you to read.
  • If not, type first part of notecard name in inventory search bar.
  • Double-click on notecard name in inventory.
Manage notecards
  • To be sure of finding it again, rename it with keywords.
  • To reply, copy the notecard (right-click, copy)
  • Paste the copy back into the notecard  folder (right-click, paste)
  • Rename the copy to include the name of the originator and your name
  • Edit the copy and send the edited copy back to the originator

2013 HELP: Logs of local chat and IMs --Store

Store logs of local chat and IMs:
-
You can  keep logs of your communications.  Here is how:

  • V3.2 Preferences button (gears)
  • Privacy tab
  • Save nearby chat logs to my computer (Check)
  • Save IM logs to my computer  (Check)
  • Add timestamp to each line in chat log    (Check)
I prefer to leave the default destination file unchanged, because it seems to be common across viewers.  If they all put the logs in the same place, I don't have to wonder where to look.  You may want to copy the destination file name while you have the window open.

The land is located on the South East corner of the Neobelow sim and is connected to hundreds of public Linden sims. If you are sailing in the Dire Straits region or you need a temp location to rezz your boat, please be my guest anytime.
