Communities in virtual worlds can promote their activities to the public.  If they have activities unrelated to the public image of virtual worlds, they may be better suited to promote their activities than are the grids.  Avatar Repertory Theater (ART) is especially suited to produce promotional content because it includes writers, bloggers, and video producers.  This article reports on a project to promote ART activities to outworlders who are interested in some aspect of theater or video production.  These people will have no interest in coming into a virtual world to be in a virtual world, but they may be interest in coming into a virtual world to be in theater or video.

When you go into a virtual world, you need to learn how to do things, starting with walking and talking. That can't be hard. Every baby does it. Without reading the instructions. That is because babies are born with a built in ability to learn. You don't lose that ability when you grow up. This series shows how to write beginner instructions for virtual worlds to reactivate that ability.
