Another report on the developing music scene on the Hypergrid.  A replica of a historical site in Mississippi, Po Monkey's has enough events for an events board.

Katauta Short Poetry Workshop-Tue 5/17, 7pm SLT 


This week the Short Poetry Workshop revisits Japanese poetry forms with the Katauta. Originating in the 8th Century AD, the Katauta is a poem of 17 or 19 syllables arranged in 3 unrhymed lines of either 5,7,7 or 5,7,5 syllables that asks a question. Varieties of Katauta are called the Sedoka and the Mondo. So join us as we learn, write and share the Katauta

          SingerGirl : has been singing professionally since 1984, classically trained, with decades of real world experience ( Jazz, Country, R&B, Rock and Party Event Bands and Solo Performances). She offers solos to SL while singing to quality backing tracks and also acoustic guitar/piano performances.

          Po' Monkey's lounge is located in unincorporated Bolivar County, Mississippi outside of Merigold. Located in the Mississippi Delta, it is a juke joint located in cotton fields in a one-room house. The juke joint was founded in 1961 and is one of the last rural juke joints in the Mississippi Delta.
          The Mississippi Blues Commission placed a historic marker at the Po Monkey's Lounge in 2009 designating it as a site on the Mississippi Blues Trail for its contribution to the development of the blues (and one of the few authentic juke joints that is still operating today).
