2016 PEOPLE: ART: PROMO: SL13B: 13 years of the virtual worlds community. Call for participants. “The Shared Adventure.”

SL13B:  13 years of the virtual worlds community.  
Call for participants.   “The Shared Adventure.”

The virtual worlds community begins planning for a celebration of its 13th year with the theme of  “The Shared Adventure.”   It now calls for participants:  performers, exhibitors, DJs, builders, volunteers.  The event starts on Sunday, June 19, noon Second Life (California) time.  The language makes clear that this is about all virtual worlds.

Last year I floated 

among the sun's nearest neighbors

• Barnard's Star is behind me.
• The Alpha,Beta, Proxima Centauri triplet is at my foot. 
• An adventure I shared with a dozen other visitors at the time.
• And thousands over the life of the event.
• That was last year SL12B opens, 12th anniversary of Second Life.
• This year a new adventure begins:  SL13B

• The adventure begins with a call for participants 
•  performers, exhibitors, DJs, builders, volunteers
• who will share in the preparation of exhibits and other work 
• to build the celebration area into a virtual fairground.  
• The adventure continues as the celebration area opens on:
• Sunday, June 19, noon Second Life (California) time. 
• The celebration area remains open through July 3.

2016 WRITE: PEOPLE: Writers group for creative collaboration. How does this plan sound?

Writers group for creative collaboration.  
How does this plan sound?

I am starting a creative collaboration writers group on the Hypergrid.   The initial activity of this group will be a regular meeting, probably weekly, in which we do cold reads of dialogs written by members of the group.  The products of this group may be published in blog(s) and considered by New Media Arts for production as short plays.  A preliminary plan is presented here.  Comments welcome.

Writers group creative collaboration

• The objective of the creative collaboration meetings is:
• to help the members improve skills in storytelling 
• and character development in dialog.    
• We will meet in Kitely weekly or monthly at some set time. 
• How to get into Kitely: NMA entry path
• Community-based entry: Welcome paths for communities in OpenSim

• We will read mainly dialog, in stage play or video form.  
• We will read the dialog as a cold (unrehearsed) read.
• with other writers volunteering as actors.
• This form of reading lets you hear how others will read your dialog 
• And how they interpret it on first read.

2016 PEOPLE: EVENTS: Plan for the HG eventorator

Eventorator is a name I made up for a place in the metaverse that hosts the news about events.  The HG Eventorator hosts the news about Hypergrid events. My preliminary idea is that it would have self-updating posters (probably Browsers on Prim--BOPS).  These posters would display (and link to) web pages with calendars or other event notices.  I am setting up an eventorator place in Kitely.  Everybody is welcome to use it or use the ideas in it. Or to suggest ideas for it.

• In Kitely, put the hop in the Firestorm nav (top) bar, enter

Here is a historical museum of a bit of art, history, and architecture.  Virtual worlds can house an unlimited number of museums.  Even outdoor museums depicting the world they tell about.  Architecture you can walk through.  Dinosaurs that walk past you.  Geology you can walk into.  Dioramas you can walk around in.
