I found no sign or notecard on this build, so I can't cite sources or give a geographic or historical location. It is an elegant build, so I report in pictures.

Sailing Saturday Lessons -- Kayaker Magic

Saturday, August 6th, 4 PM, region OSGrid International Sailing.
HG address:  hg.osgrid.org:80:OSGrid International Sailing (ubOde)
-
Show up early for sailing lessons before the race. My sailboats are almost as challenging to sail as an RL sailboat! The sails can be raised, reefed and furled. While sailing you must constantly trim the sails to match the wind direction, your heading and speed. Tacking is necessary to move up-wind. If you want to do well in the race, you would be advised to show up for lessons first. Sailing lessons are best done in voice. You can also contact me to arrange private sailing lessons (free!) at other times and places.

2016 BIZ: VIDEO: WRITE: Do you know what you are licensed to do with the virtual products you buy? Jane and Dick in court

Do you know what you are licensed to do
with the virtual products you buy?
Jane and Dick in court
As virtual worlds extend into business activities, we need to start paying more attention to the licenses that come with the copyrighted products we buy or get as free gifts in virtual worlds.  We think we own these products and can do what we please with them, but that is not necessarily the case.  We don't have standard licenses yet, but need to start thinking about them.

Jane grew up to to be a fashion designer.  She also got into virtual worlds and makes great avatars.  Dick became a writer of children's books.  He also writes ad copy to pay the bills.  Dick is in virtual worlds to boost his sales of children's books.  He has come up with the idea of using pictures he takes in virtual worlds to illustrate his books.
-
Follow the story below, as we hear Jane say, "I'm telling you, Dick, we aren't playing any more."

2016 EDU: Hypertext presentation for 3D worlds: Web-walks

Hypertext presentation for 3D worlds:  Web-walks
Virtual worlds provide a different environment for presentation and instruction.  Instead of pages on a computer screen, the presenter can offer virtual objects that can hold the entire contents of the presentation.  The objects can be posters presenting web pages, giving notecards, delivering audio (including voice), showing video, or--probably any multimedia presentation you can think of.
Web-walks showing overview
  • The illustration is from presentations in development on Kitely:
  • hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Creative Collaborators/140/125/26
  • Firestorm Hop: Put in the Nav (top) bar of Firestorm, Enter
  • Presentations can be walk and talk by guide (author or not).
  • Or they can be individually self-guided.
  • Or they can be guided by an autodocent.
  • Or they can be supported by various Q&A methods

The web walk presentation

  • Posters show web pages on prims.
  • People can read pages on the prims or on their own browsers.
  • Walks collect broad topics and show suggested order for reading.
  • Presenter can walk and point out important aspects of particular pages.
  • People can take copies of walks as they choose.
  • People can reuse walks for their own presentations.
  • The overview can show the main outline in the names on the walks.
  •  Each walkway can give notecard on click.
  • The posters show web pages that serve as sections.
  • People can scroll the web posters or open any web page in their browsers.
  • Virtual world presentation mixed with web presentation.

Web walks as the new books

  • A collection of webwalks can replace a chapter in a text book.
  • But with multimedia presentation.
  • Each walk is a single object.  You can easily give it.
  • Or you could sell it--if you can make really instructive walks.

Outline

  • Preparing a presentation in 3d
  • Presentation by presentation type
  • Presentation in 3D walks: advantages for learners
  • Version 0.2 Walk on the outline
  • Instructions to audience for using web walks
