Model Letter of Agreement - Virtual World Actor

New Media Arts has developed a model letter of agreement for the employment of actors in virtual worlds.  It is reproduced below.  Anyone is licensed to use it but it should credit New Media Arts.   

• In the document below, blank spaces or multiple question marks indicate an item that is to be filled in by the producing entity or by the actor.  
• For work that is to be captured on video, volunteers should also sign a letter of agreement granting reproduction and distribution rights to the producing entity.

Dr Chris Mooney-Singh is the co-founder of Poetry Slam in Singapore and has mentored three Young Artists of the Year Award winners. He is a Director of a non-profit arts company, Word Forward, located at the Aliwal Arts Centre in Kampong Gelam, Singapore. Mooney-Singh also teaches in the M.A. Creative Writing Programme at Lasalle College of the Arts. His verse novel Foreign Madam and the White Yogi was commended in the unpublished fiction category of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards in Melbourne, Australia. This is his first short film.

Trade show: could that be done online?  

A digital place could replicate the look and feel of a trade show.

Trade shows are difficult in a pandemic.  Online trade shows can be done in digital places at lower cost and with no health risk. How would they work?

• Vendors would love to see their area of a trade show that busy.  
• You could add an audio of crowd sound if you wanted.  
• Conveniently, the area manager could adjust the sound as needed.

A vendor gets more than just a table and chairs

• As a vendor you probably get you own private display room.
• You could simulate the place where the product is used.  
• Perhaps have a bot actively simulate the use of the product.
• Small products might be enlarged for clarity of the demonstration.
• A room has 4 walls for displaying things:
• People teleport to your display room from the welcome area and other key spots
• Posters and marketing videos of the product in use. 
• You have the entire company web site available with a click.
• And video conferences with company representatives who are not onsite.

Report on a special event at The Birdcage, a new venue in OpenSim.Live.  The event features Non-Player Characters (NPCs) as dancers.

• Web-sender: A sign citing a topic. On click it opens a web page in a new tab.
• This is the 3D equivalent of a web link.
• For a presentation, I use web-senders instead of bullet points.
• For adiuts, I put out the signs in advance, in the order I want to present them.
• I walk my avatar along the sign path and talk about the content behind the senders. 
• The web-links can remain out indefinitely for review and use by others.
