2022 Some furries leave the metaverse. For Skype and YouTube. Some stay. They can make videos in Second Life, too.

Some furries leave the metaverse.
For Skype and YouTube.
Some stay.
They can make videos in Second Life, too.
The furry community extends beyond the metaverse.  But it is also popular in the metaverse.
  • Watch on YouTube
  • Things Furries No Longer Care About...
  • Shadow Raccoon
  • They previously used Second Life, but have shifted to YouTube ( with furry suits).
  • One obvious advantage of YouTube: You can monetize your activity.
  • There are still lots of furries in SL.
  • The furry dating group has over 2K members.

People of the metaverse: The digital furries. Avatars in animal form. The Second Life furries

People of the metaverse:
The digital furries.
Avatars in animal form.
The Second Life furries
Some people wanted avatars in animal form.  Our creators were glad to oblige.

Anthropomorphism, the attribution of human traits, emotions, and cognitive abilities to non-human entities, has appeared in art and storytelling in various cultures throughout history. As a vehicle for the expression of self in three-dimensional form, it comes as no surprise that Second Life has established itself as the most diverse universe for Anthropomorphic Residents to congregate and celebrate their diversity.
Luskwood, a popular treehouse-themed region founded by Eltee Statosky, was one of the first places to become an Anthro hotspot and has inspired many others, as well as the Anthro avatar design company of the same name.

2017 HOBBY: PEOPLE: Kayaker builds a horse, problems and solutions at the WIP meeting

Kayaker builds a horse, problems and solutions
      at the WIP meeting
Video:  At a recent WIP meeting Kayaker Magic demonstrated a horse he was scripting, this one in western tack.  He showed how he created reins to go from the rider's hands to the bridle by using the target feature of the particle system.  He also described a problem he was having with the animation of the legs, apparently caused by the large number of instructions required to animate legs and the other parts of the horse and the western tack.

      • Watch on YouTube
      • The problem described here may call for IMA TestWG to develop a problem analysis test suite.
      • This may be the best horse for city boys

            Augmented reality sandbox.
The sand is real, the water is augmented
Video of a sandbox equipped with a Kinect 3D camera and a projector to project a real-time colored topographic map with contour lines onto the sand surface. 2017 HOBBIES: Sailing the virtual seas with Kayaker Magic and his advanced NAV

Sailing the virtual seas with Kayaker Magic
            and his advanced NAV
Sailing the virtual seas is not as much fun as sailing the wet ones.  But the virtual seas are as near as your computer.  But a virtual boat costs only a few dollars and requires no upkeep.  Kayaker Magic makes sailboats that fit those strange terms that sailing fans use.   A bit of virtual sailing might be of interest to people who have limited access to wet-water sailing.

Hud= "Head-up" display.  A head-up display or heads-up display, also known as a HUD, is any transparent display that presents data without requiring users to look away from their usual viewpoints.
            -
In virtual worlds, the HUD appears on the screen with information about the local world and often with controls that you can use to take action about what you see.
