2017 WW: Cybalounge: Tutorial: Annotated screens

Cybalounge: Annotated Screens
Screen shots for registering in Cybalounge and using the info and controls on the main screens.  You don't need to register to go into Cybalounge--you can enter as a guest.  But when you register  you get a free world you can build in, along with the ability to friend other people and contact them.  They may be able to answer questions or send you things they have made.

  • Register at Cybalounge
  • There are other Cybalounge sites.  If you register at one, the others won't know you.
  • Some people have had a problem registering.  
  • One person did not notice the need to scroll down.
  • You don't need to register--you can enter as a guest.
  • But if you register, you get your own web-world, 
  • where you can build what you want.
  • And you can friend other people who may be able to help you.

  • Be sure to check the box to accept terms and conditions.
  • If you have problems, tell about them in the comments to this article.

  • Logout: you can also close the window.
  • Refresh: reloads the page without logout.  Use this when the world seems quirky.
  • FPS: Low when you arrive, rises.  Don't try to move until it stops rising.
  • FPS may reach nearly 60 on a powerful desktop.  I get 20 on my laptop.
  • Screen may ignore key input until you click it.
  • Chat:  You can paste in urls and they will be live links.  
  • Others can click on url to open the web page in a new tab.
  • They can still talk to you while they look at another webpage.
  • Chat history: You can copy text.  
  • Double click the start point, then click the end  point. press Ctrl c.
  • Mic:  Click to turn on voice.  Click again to mute your mic.  
  • Mic has green background when on, red background when muted.
  • Crossed tools: Turns on build mode if you are where you can build.

  • This item has an uncertain future.
  • Drag and drop avatar may eliminate the need for inworld avatars.
  • People may may prefer to have their own custom made avatars.
  • They might keep the avatars on their own computers.
  • And drop them into any world they go iinto.

The Hypergrid WIP Show

  • The Hypergrid WIP is a one hour "show & tell" of works in progress. 
  • Everyone is invited.  Building, scripting, entertainment-- whatever you are working on.
  • Selby may capture video of presentations in voice, for posting on YouTube.
  • The WIP show normally meets on 2 Sundays a month at 12 pm California time.
  • The show meets at the Pandora location on the second Sunday 
  • But will not meet in the summer.
  • And at Cookie II on the fourth Sunday.  
  • To keep up with the WIP meetings, join the Kitely group, Work in progress.
  • We can go to your place if there is time.
