2017 WW: IMA: Nonprofit web-world message board. What can we do with it?

Nonprofit web-world message board.
What can we do with it?
An item introduced into Cybalounge uses technology that can also be useful in virtual worlds.  Here is how to use it and suggestions about how it might be used.

Message board

Use the message board

  • Based on Google Docs.
  • In Cybalounge nonprofit virtual world.
  • To read, type on, or copy from the message board, click on it,
  • It scrolls down so you can see older entries that have not been erased.
  • Type your entry near the top so it will appear on the screen.
  • There are formatting controls at the top.
  • On some computers, HD screens especially, you may not see the format bar.
  • To see it, reduce the browser display size.
  • In Chrome, click the 3 button column at upper right, use the zoom controls.
  • Please leave important messages near the top.

Message board on the nonprofit web-world in Cybalounge

    • The  nonprofit web world  has a message board that anyone can post on.
    • Our first use has been to post messages, of course.
    • I can access the board from my computer -- no need to login
    • Or even enter the web-world as a guest
    • I expect this board to be available as an object for you to use in Cybalounge.
    • And will report on how to use it as soon as I find out myself.
    • Meanwhile the technology is useful as MOAP in virtual worlds.

    Elsewhere for the message board

    • When set so anyone can post, the board can be loaded on a web-page.
    • So I made a MOAP and put it on my Kitely world.
    • Now if anyone posts on that BB, we can see it in Kitely.

    My own message board

    My own message board
    in OpenSim
    • I have my own Google Docs.
    • So I made my own board.
    • And put it on a prim (MOAP)
    • I will use it to post messages at Creative Collaborators.
    • It is right at the main landing point.
    • grid.kitely.com:8002:Creative Collaborators

Who can post on my message board

    • Anybody who has the url.
    • I can give the url to a few helpers
    • Or to a group, for group conversations.
    • And I can make more pages for more conversations.

Uses for a message board like this.

    Brainstorming session

    • People put ideas into open chat or IM to helper.
    • Helper copies the ideas into the board so everyone can see them.
    • If ideas fill the board, helper can make multiple pages.
    • We can make multiple boards if we have that many ideas.
    • We can organize and reorganize the ideas on the boards.
    • We can  copy the board into local chat for people to take away with them

    Presentation (power point)

    • If i have each panel prepared, I can paste each onto the Board in sequence
    • I can modify the text on the fly, for example, in response to questions.
    • I can put supplementary links on the board as requested.
    • (You can make a url into hypertext if you can use the format bar at the top.)

    Display messages

    • The MOAP board(s) can stay on your land carrying any announcement you want.
    • Details of an event:
    • time changes,
    • questions from visitors.
    • (if you give them the link)

    Meeting agenda and report

    • The agenda can be posted in advance and grow with new inputs
    • At meeting time people can add results to the agenda items
    • These could include action items, links, and suggestions
