2020 #VWEDU: Volunteer Virtual Classroom Speaker. A potential use for virtual worlds? Let's think about it.

Volunteer Virtual Classroom Speaker.
A potential use for virtual worlds?
Let's think about it.
One company is offering to match the experience of virtual visitors with the needs of classes.
The Empty Classroom

If they must be in a classroom

  • Virtual visits to classrooms?
  • Already on offer from Nepris
  • Not via virtual worlds, but online by camera.
  • With all the advantages of online.
  • "Without leaving your home or office, you can connect with students..."
  • For professionals
  • For educators

Who might support the time?

Companies

  • For recruiting
  • For community relations

Museums, art galleries, non-profits

  • As part of their mission

Retired persons

  • As an opportunity for continued activity

Would a virtual world fit in?

  • Maybe not if the professional can take them around an existing site with a camera.
  • Maybe so if the presentation would otherwise be talking heads.
  • Quite likely if there were a virtual world with suitable scenes.

This may be a case where webworlds would fit best

  • CybaLOUNGE
  • 3DWebWorldz
  • A presentation in video would require no installation.
  • Neither would a presentation in a web-world.
