Roll-a-Poem Short Poetry Workshop-Tue 10/25, 7pm SLT

This week the Short Poetry Workshop will be doing a fun group poem called Roll-a-Poem. Each poet rolls the “die” to get the number of words they will use for their line in the poem. So come down to the Short Poetry Library to learn, write and share.

Unmindful

  • Born on a mountaintop..ever green and new
  • a swirling sphere of genes and DNA..that’s me and you
  • rolling,,,rolling along because / that’s the path we’re on
  • on track and on-time.. moving forward, like we got a giant push
  • that will last a lifetime..the smoother we roll the farther we go..

  • Day moves into night and night rotates to day
  • the bright and light to the dark and grey
  • It might not last forever, and that’s ok, it’s the way the ball rolls…..it’s the way
  • -
  • There is no going back from where we came, this journey has a one way flow
  • when the terrain gets rough we spin around into a fleeting slow down.
  • But Then! The marble floors -where we slide and glide..smiling because we’re, getting it right,
  • and we’d love to go on forever...wheeling and tumbling forever and ever on,
  • But our floor gets cracks/ and cobble stones replace the tiles,and we start to climb, and its hard this time.
  • -
  • Unmindful of what awaits us at the end, we glimpse the beauty when we dream.
  • Obedient in our free will, there is no resisting as we…. roll down the last hill, 
  • continuing, head over heels, years on a wheel, all the words we never said, each breath we breathed.
  • Born for this road, one after another, we follow each other into the unknown…. the last mystery.
  • Who’s to say where/ we go…maybe we just start over, start over again, for another roll.
