2016 PEOPLE: HELP: Welcome kiosk for community collaboration 0.4

Welcome kiosk for community collaboration 0.4
Updated 7/3/2016
How would communities collaborate?  One way would be to introduce their members and visitors to sister communities.  Here is a preliminary design for a welcome kiosk that could be displayed anywhere to give people an introduction and access  to your community.

Your community welcome Kiosk: suggestions

  • Gives notecard about the community.
  • Gives landmark to the community welcome center.
  • Has group inviter to the community group or groups.
  • Has web sender to open community website.
  • Has web sender to open community blog.
  • Has welcome folder giver to give favorite landmarks and objects.
  • Walkin teleport to the community welcome center.
  • The walkin teleport must be placed by someone with authority over the land.
  • Authority includes land owner and possibly others, depending on grid settings.
  • OSSL adds functions to LSL: threat levels control misuse

    • Q: What happened to the Friday event notices you were carrying twice a month?
    • A: They weren't drawing enough interest and alternative sources came online.  I am now running a short  form daily near the top of this blog. A more comprehensive collection is in  Selby's daily news collection.

          Comments

          • Notecard: Embedded items must be retrieved on the grid where they were embedded.
          • Therefor the welcome folder is best to give LMs, etc.
          • Walkin Teleports work well within a single grid, maybe not yet on hypergrid
          • Walkin Teleport script
          • Current Walkin TP is version is 0.3

          Get it

          • Current kiosk panel version is 0.4
          • Comes in two parts because the walkin teleport cannot* be phantom.
          • You can take both parts or pick up the boxed set nearby in the white box.
          • Location:  Cookie II, Hobo sandbox
          • hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Cookie II/117/363/22
          • Alt location:  Creative collaborators: Builder's Guild Showplace
          • hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Creative Collaborators/118/269/26
          • The walkin teleport must be placed by someone with authority over the land
          • Authority includes land owner and possibly others, depending on grid settings.
          • Put a Firestorm hop in the Nav (top) bar of the viewer.
          • It should be free to copy and full perm at either location.
          • The white box should be on sale for zero KC, in case copy does not work.
          • *If you want it phantom, use volume detect for the trigger event.

          Suggested uses

          • For dispersed communities ingrid (put the kiosk in all locations).
          • For dispersed communities in several grids (put all LMs in the welcome folder).
          • For sister communities with shared promotion.
          • For grids promoting big communities (put kiosks at the welcome center).

          Possible Welcome folder content

          • LMs to other places in the local world (region).
          • LMs to other places on the grid. Maybe.
          • For Kitely use, note that the local world is rezzed; other places may not be.
          • Hence the LMs should be distinguished.
          • LMs to places on other grids.  Maybe.
          • Objects relevant to the community: boats, uniforms, avatars, etc.
