Here is a collection of starter help for basic skills needed in Second Life and similar virtual worlds.  Since there are multiple viewers, there are some places where the help has to be viewer-specific.  The help applies to the current Second Life standard viewer (3,2) and the version of Phoenix offered in SpotON3D as available in the Facebook plugin (SpotON3D App).  Other information may be added later.
Below:
  • Skill  areas
  • Learning objectives
  • How-to articles
-
For first line mentors, these items night be treated as teaching objectives with the instructional content serving as background or used in instruction.
-
Skill areas
  • Vocabulary
  • Get information
  • Look around
  • Move
  • Communicate
  • Your stuff, inventory
Yeah. There are lots of things to learn.  That's because there are lots of things you can do. And you can't do anything until you learn how.
-
These are skills.  As with driving, you learn them with practice.
-
I have tried to point out places where there are important  interface differences between Viewer 3.2 and Phoenix.  If you see a place where something should be added, please point it out in the comments.
