Instruction and practice in Symbolic Modeling are offered by Marly Milena in the virtual world (MUVE) of Second Life.

Theory background for SymMod

Lateral thinking is solving problems through an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not immediately obvious and involving ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic. The term was (coined) in 1967 by Edward de Bono.
***********************

According to de Bono, lateral thinking deliberately distances itself from the standard perception of creativity as either “vertical” logic (the classic method for problem solving: working out the solution step-by-step from the given data) or “horizontal” imagination (having many ideas but being unconcerned with the detailed implementation of them).

If you are inspired to learn more about SymMods and would like to be able to adapt them to your own work, or to your own personal growth, you need to get in touch with Marly Milena in Second Life or Niela Miller as she is known in First Life.

Marly Milena uses her RL training in many creative arts as well as using Gestalt, Jungian and Process Oriented Psychology to develop these tools and methods.

The training will introduce you to the ideas that form the basis of the SymMod method and  ways to bring creativity and imagination to problem solving.   Train in the application of these concepts and use all the artistic tools we have at our fingertips in the virtual world.

Learn how to teach people to inhabit or embody their creation in order to identify ourselves with the pieces of our creation that express deep states of feeling or thought.   Then use conversations with the other expressed pieces to integrate and understand them.

You can learn to use SymMods as Marly does in her Climate Change Workshop, not to decide an issue, but to understand all attitudes about it, so that we can engage in a more effective and meaningful dialogue when making those decisions with others.

I hope some of you will want to ensure the growth of this amazing new way of helping ourselves and others to achieve our goals; personal, social and even global.  Contact me by Notecard in Second Life.   Marly Milena
