Stech: Social media can promote your projects. Summary 2012

Social media can promote your projects
Summary 2012
-
Probably most people use the social media (Facebook, Twitter, MySL, blogs etc.) just  to socialize.  But a good many people in Second Life have projects: events, or venues they want to promote.  And some of them are using the social media to promote those projects.  The Hobo Kit on the web carries several articles about how to benefit from these publicity outlets.

Naked landmarks.  That's a landmark not clothed in any event information.  I get lots of them. I have no idea what they were intended to promote.  When they arrived on my screen, of course, there was some information on my local chat about that event.  I often get these when I login.  Along with lots of IMs and other things. I don't try to keep up with these things.  I assume that if someone has something important to tell me, the will put it on a notecard, with landmark embedded.   (To embed a landmark, drag it from your inventory to the notecard.)

SloPromo.  If my first notice of an event is the day if the event, I usually ignore it.  I have various things already planned for the day.  I think it is a bit impolite to ask people to interrupt their  plans for a surprise event.
