2012 will be a critical year for humankind and the Planet Earth., it's high time to learn about Oil Politics, GreenWashing, and critical thinking about propaganda, environmental impact., and envisioning what you can do... How the choices you make can and do determine the future.

Oil Politics is an ideal topic because of the major Public Relations campaigns, advocating both for and against oil issues. In Oil Politics, perhaps more than any other crisis, the voices of citizens like you are having significant impact.

Outline: 

• (1) Exercise: Critical Thinking comparing PR campaigns, both Pro-Oil and Pro-Environment.
• (2) Lecture on Oil Politics (10-15 minutes) in Voice (full text provided)
• (3) Exercise: Envisioning Solutions for the Future - Dash Writing
• (4) Final Exercise and Discussion - SL Practice to Take RL Action

Instructor/Facilitator: Carl "Solutionary" Icann teaches the 1st Humane Education courses in Second Life, merging the vision for training a generation of solutionaries with effective in-world teaching techniques. Carl has completed the RL course Better World: A Meaningful Life through distance learning at Institute for Humane Education, and is enrolled in the course "Teaching for a Positive Future" starting in February 2012.
