Virtually Healthy: Research
Following is a request for help with research about the potential health benefits from activities in a virtual world. It will take no more than 30 minutes and consists of interviews and questionnaires.
I pass requests like this along when I think the research has merit because I want to help develop research-based information about health contributions from virtual reality environments.

Request from Daniel Roberts
Would you be interested in taking part in a genuine experimental trial in world?
I’m a medical student based in at the University of Nottingham and we are investigating the link between an avatar and the counterpart real world person in the context of healthcare.
Previous research has shown virtual reality and virtual worlds can reduce anxiety, both in the general population and in sufferers of specific conditions, such as phobias, pain reduction and Post-Traumatic Stress disorders. We want to add to this.
We need healthy adult (aged 18 or over) participants who are already members of second life. All we need you to do is attend a medical style interview at our research centre based at the University of Nottingham Island. Before and after this meeting we would ask you to complete a short survey.
In total we won’t ask for more than 30 minutes of your time.
This study has full ethical approval from the University of Nottingham and all information (Including avatar names) are strictly confidential.
