Theater in the Midst -- Oedipus

Theater in the Midst

Come to the palace!  Join the people of Thebes as they plead with Oedipus to save them from the plagues!  Watch as Oedipus conducts an investigation of murder -- a murder which must be punished to save the city from the wrath of the gods.

A cold case.  No crime scene to investigate.  But there are witnesses.  Stand in the crowd and hear their testimony as Oedipus slowly builds the case against -- himself!
-
No trial needed.  See the horror as Oedipus discovers his guilt and inflicts the terrible punishment on himself.

-
There is no theater here.  No orchestra.  No seating.  No proscenium.  You arrive by walking up the hill to the palace where the crowd is gathering.  If you choose, you are wearing the body and garb matching Theban townspeople.

-
You are not attending a performance.  You are in the midst of a happening.  Theater in the midst.
