No more "real life"

Everybody I know in Second Life will agree with  Maria Korolov.  "Real life" is an appropriate contrast for people who are role playing (whether in Second Life or in in theater, psychodrama, or emergency training).  But what we do in Second Life is part of real life.  I wonder whether people who use the term "real life" would consider watching television to be included in "real life."

Outworld -- Inworld

regularly use the term outworld to refer to things outside of virtual reality.  Nice  match to inworld, a term already in wide use in virtual reality circles.

"I’ve never been a big fan of the wording “in real life,” but haven’t noticed to what extent it’s crept into my language until Ron Blechner pointed it out earlier today.

“I would encourage you to stop using the term ‘real life’ in opposition to virtual worlds,” he said. “It implies virtual worlds are fake.”"

My problem is to find a way to say "physical meeting" or "physical facility" without it sounding weird, or like a medical exam.

Telling someone "let's meet in the outworld conference room" sounds like I'm asking them to meet in outer space.

There's really no one good phrase. Offline, face-to-face, in person all cover particular subsets of use cases.

Say you're taking a test, and it's available in a virtual classroom, and in a physical one.

Are you choosing between a virtual exam and a physical exam? Between a virtual test and a face-to-face test? In-person test? On-campus test?

    Arrgh.
